Anela Pasovic’s draw to yoga didn’t begin on a mat, or in Warrior Pose, it began on a stage. Her father, a professional musician with the Yugoslavian Military Orchestra, taught Anela the piano from a young age, and by the time she was six-years-old, she was performing solos across Europe. The spirit and flow of music became ingrained in her and later served as her inspiration to learn yoga.
After moving to the United States at age 20 to study business, and starting a successful career in New York City, Anela took up yoga as a way to counter the stresses of modern life, finding that same spirit she felt from playing music reawakened each time she performed asanas.
Now, 10 years later and after the birth of her two daughters, Carla and Sofia, teaching yoga has become Anela’s passion. “I find such a special gift in sharing the wisdom and knowledge I gain from yoga,” she said. “I am a big believer in multiplying the efforts, that if we share all the positivity and knowledge with others, we find true fulfillment in life.”
Anela has shared that positivity and knowledge through various projects, from teaching yoga to victims of domestic trauma to founding Learn Play Music, an outreach program where she creates and sings music with local children from New York City. Between all that, Anela also found a love for fashion and the timeless designs from Milano and Paris, using them as her inspiration in founding Citta. “I wanted to create clothes that made all women feel confident and free to pursue their passion,” she said. “Citta isn’t about trends, it’s about building and sharing an ongoing love for yoga with all women.”
